Connundrum
I was called this afternoon by a potential client looking for one of our products.
I chatted and did the normal five minutes needs analysis.
Problem is the business they are in.
They are a christian right wing Bible College!
On the one hand I do not like doing business with people who have beliefs or values that I believe are detrimental to society, but on the other hand money is money!
Ideas?
Thoughts?
What would you guys / gals do?

Having just finishing a similar organisations sydney confrence for women, and having problems in the past with what they do, I can say I quite happily took their money.
At the end of the day, I just find it priceless that the people they hate/condem are the ones that perform the integral tasks that their organisation needs to survive.
We're all special!
I suppose it depends how badly you need the payoff (and not just the financial side).
That's tough. Will the work you do for them somehow promote their ideas/cause? would it harm someone? If not, then I would do it...just cause you have to pay your bills. But if you are building a website that promotes hate..I'd say NO!
Two ways of looking at it;
If you are the professional I suspect you are you should be able to perform your role on an impartial basis without being involved on an emotional level.
However as 'not so single guy' says, if your actions have the potiential to cause harm then you are under a moral obligation to say no. Not very helpful, I know but good luck in your decision making.
I'm on the other side of things -- we don't like when religious folks discriminate against us just because we're gay. Sometimes we have to teach people by example. I'd say go ahead and do it unless there's something in particular that's directly harming the gay community.
You could always let it slip that you're gay and let them make up their mind. If they have nothing against working with you, then there's no problem. If they do, then it's their decision and either way you remain guilt free.
Don't ask me how it fits into any conversation you might have though. Perhaps the off-handed mention of a boyfriend ...
I think this is purely a business deal. Unless you know what you do is actively contributing to harming others, then a dollar is a dollar - it has to come from somewhere.
Not all right-wing Christians are Bad People. And even if this crowd are, then you can be happy that you're a Better Person by not discriminating against them for that.
