I made a huge mistake yesterday
I made a huge mistake yesterday which is causing a lot of stress for me and the business.
I processed a credit card payment for a client on our new payment system but instead of ignoring the decimal point it stripped the decimal point out and charged them 100 times the amount.
Essentially maxxing out their credit card.
I immediately reversed the transaction (literally within moments) but it seems that refunds take some time to actually process.
I spoke to the bank and I spoke the Payment Gateway people, I also obviously spoke to the client immediately as well.
At this moment I have a very pissed off client with damn good reason I might add, and nothing I can do to hasten the process of getting the money back on the card any faster.
I feel like a total idiot and if I were in my client's shoes I would be pissed off too.
Sometimes I hate being busy because we do miss things like decimals being dropped from transactions!
