Who are our GLBT Role Models?

Sometimes we all need a reminder of the GLBT people who have helped shape history and have fought for equality.

I think most of those names are just celebrity crap. The true heroes are all dead, Bobby Goldsmith, Oscar Wilde, what about Matthew Shepard? His story alone is one of the most powerful happenings in modern gay history. He is truly a martyr.

I dont agree that they are crap... and Oscar Wilde is there too.

True both Matthew Sheppard and Bobby Goldsmith should be there just as Terrence Higgins should be there.

As I also believe Justice Micheal Kirby shoudl be too.

We need role models to look up to, ones that have meaning to us now as well as historically!

I agree with Sun... those names, whilst important, are just celebrities.

Kirby indeed, and after watching the Matthew Shepard Story on Fox last night, I think he's up there too.

Frankly I think there need to be more "close to home" role-models... ordinary people who have overcome adversity and managed to stay somewhat sane in the process.
