Irritating People

Last night we had dinner with a good friend, organised at the last minute for his Birthday and a tad chaoticlly on our behalf! Although we were both exhausted form working most of the weekend we really wanted to celebrate his birthday with him.

Unfortunatley a friend of his came along who for anonymity we shall call 'Carl'. Carl is your typical self important dickhead who manages to not only insult everyone, but also incites a violent desire to push him under the nearest speeding car.

This was not the first time we had met Carl, but it WILL BE THE LAST!

Now don't misunderstand me, Hugh Grant's character of George in Two Weeks Notice is charmingly appealing even though he is a total arrogant prick. Carl, however had none of Hugh Grant's charm or compassion.

The disagreements or content of the discussions are not important, it's more the total lack of interest or even feighned interest in anybody else apart from himself. I love talking with people who have opposing views and having a logical argument, but I cannot cope with someone whose idea of a 'discussion' is to talk over and simply ignore the other person's point of view.

The boy and I were still feeling like we had been violated this morning by Carl's personality.

The funny thing is that my friend is an amazingly good judge of character and Carl is oen of his close friends, so there must be something more to Carl than I can see. Maybe it is my personality that grates on him and brings out the worst, who knows and quite frankly this morning I don't care!
